Course Overview
The MMU Post-Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (PgDLSCM) is designed to provide participants with specialist knowledge in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The program is suitable for those candidates wishing to build a successful career in the field on Supply Chain Management, Logistics and Operations. Case studies will be used throughout the program to expose students to the real life situations and challenges faced in logistics and supply chain. Upon successful completion of the MMU PgD LSCM, students may proceed to do the Master Of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Msc in LSCM) offered by Midwest Missouri University .

ASSESSMENT MODE
Each module is offered as an Executive Seminar program. Upon successful completion of all 6 modules, students are eligible for the award of Post Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (PgD LSCM). Participants are assessed through written assignments of about 3,000 words for each module. There are no exams.
Pathway to MMU Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Students successfully completed the MMU Postgraduate Diploma in LSCM may be granted exemptions for some subjects of the MMU Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
Duration
The Post Graduate Diploma in LSCM can be completed in 6 months part time. Each module will be conducted as an Executive Professional seminar and have a duration of between 18 – 21 hours. Classes will be held in the weekends during Saturdays and/ or Sundays.
Entry requirements
All applicants for the Post Graduate Diploma should normally possess one of the following:
i) Diploma in any discipline with 3 years work experience or
ii) Candidates without formal qualifications but have relevant Industry experience can be considered to be admitted into the program. OR
iii) A first Degree / Professional qualification in any discipline from a recognized Education Institute. Assessment on the programme is based on written assignments. It is therefore essential that all applicants have a reasonable good standard of English.
Brief Description of Course Contents
Managing Business and Supply Chain
The Objectives of the course is to provide an understanding to the participant on the various functions of an organization that comprise the value chain, marketing and Sales, Operations, In-bound and Outbound Logistics, Human Resource management, Finance, Managing International Business, effective leadership skills and concepts of supply chain management.

Inventory Management and Strategies
This module aims to explore the various approaches in managing inventory to enable students To make effective decisions as in inventory planning and forecasting. Topics covered includes inventory practices such as JIT, MRP, DRP and EOQ. Students will be exposed to Quantitative Modelling (QM), Business Statistics and Forecasting and Demand and Inventory Planning and Measuring inventory performance.

Transportation Decision Strategies
The aim is to provide a clear understanding on the various transport modes, road, rail, air, water transport, intermodal combinations, and to examine global aspects of transportation. Program covers basics of traffic management, major transportation activities of shippers and carriers and how transportation productivity can be measured. an understanding on Import-Export procedures, identify the components involved in exporting, define some of the basic terms associated with global logistics.

Procurement and Legal Aspects for Supply Chain Management
This module aims to provide comprehension on the effective purchasing practices that can lead to increased profitability. You will have the opportunity to explore the Legal Aspects for Purchasing and Supply with particular emphasis on contract and sales of goods legislation. Other areas covered includes; e-procurement, Concept of strategic sourcing, devising purchasing agreement, how to measure and evaluate purchasing performance, and supplier partnership Management.

Manufacturing and Operations Management Decisions
The aim is to provide students with a good understanding on various decision making strategies as regards to operations management and manufacturing. Topics includes: the design and operations of activities for the production of goods and services, production planning, effective Quality management methods, Total Quality Management, scheduling, computer aided manufacturing and Project management.
